VANCOUVER — Marijuana does not appear to improve memory or reverse effects of Alzheimer's disease, according to results of a University of British Columbia study performed on mice bred to have genetic mutations for the disease.
"We are a little surprised, actually. Originally, we were hoping there would be a positive effect, based on previous research," said Dr. Weihong Song, the Canada Research Chair in Alzheimer's disease and a UBC psychiatry professor.

However the mice did report a feeling of "oneness" with the universe and a new appreciation of Hawaiian style pizza
I like the hopeful scientist. It would have been totally groovy if it'd worked out. I'll bet he's bummed.
Wait. They actually thought that smoking weed was gonna IMPROVE memory?
Based on what?
They can't remember, exactly...
What if, like, what you thought was the problem WAS REALLY THE CURE!?!

The groovers from Vancouver.

Wait. They actually thought that smoking weed was gonna IMPROVE memory?
That was the first thing I thought, too. Weed would be great for the old folks who'd lost their appetites, but not so much the ones who'd lost their memories.
But what if what you had to remember was... what you want to eat when you're stoned?
I will take my Nobel prize now.
Maybe I should note that Vancouver is the pot capital of Canada. City cops don't arrest for small amounts any more, although they'll make you dump it out. And maybe they'll beat the shit out of you just because, but hey, they're cops.
Or tase you. People seem to have forgotten about that one.
I won't even snark about it.
My theory about Alzheimers is that human beings were bred as a strain of laboratory animals, by some race of super-intelligent aliens* who wanted a laboratory model of a disease they suffer from.
* Possibly Hungarians.
I think more study needs to be done.
Please send me my large government grant and box of government weed.
Now THERE'S a stimulus package!! Hey-yo!!!
I don't think stimulus means "really REALLY watching TV".
Well I don't have a TV so I'll take that big box of guvmint diesel. And in the most important memory function (to me anyway) that I need, remembering the first line of the next verse; it helps. Really. Other things, like my wife's birthday frinstance, not so much.
Maybe I don't flogyna enough.
