I suppose I can sort of conceptually understand why people PLAY golf. I cannot, however, even begin to grasp why people WATCH golf. Some sports are designed from the ground up as spectator sports, a source of entertainment for an audience. Others are more strictly participatory, where there is no satisfaction provided other than by playing the game.
I have found many people become obsessive to the point of mental illness over the game of golf, so I can see why some would decide to analyze it at a highly granular level. But teh Subster is right - that doesn't make it any more interesting...

So, they instituted a "fair catch" rule, resulting in fewer tackles? Help me out here.
I can't say I read The Whole Thing, but I did watch the "Anthony Kim hits spectator in butt." It was disappointing.
The video, I watched the video.
We're in a golden age for golf research
Best news of the day.
Golf is NOT boring.
You bring your camera and take nature pics while everyone else is puttering around.

Needs moar landmines.
of course, the people who came up with 'golf research' as a field, let alone a career, are geniuses.
America!! Greatest country in the world!!!
Golf is zen for businessmen. Or so they try to convince themselves.
I find hitting it through the windmill or the pirate boat to be exciting.
I did not mean to tar the fine sport of mini-golf by associating it with golf. The two sports are completely different.
