Force and Legitimacy

How delightfully kooky, right?
Pakistan (Reuters) - An American man accused of trying to sneak into Afghanistan to hunt down and kill al Qaeda head Osama bin Laden has been detained by authorities in Pakistan, police said on Tuesday.
Also detained were all Americans connected with the operation of unmanned drones. Ho ho, just kidding.

Well, yeah. You can't have your extrajudicial killings carried out by just any amateur hack. These sorts of cross-border political murders are best left to the professionals, because - um. Well, what about PASSPORTS? Um, no, skip that. I've GOT it. The professionals can be counted on to run a smooth, professional hit without collateral damage - ok, ok, no. But come ON! You KNOW you can't have just any old civilian running around with weapons and no accountability - oh, hell, I've got Nuthin...

It's not bombing. It's highly effective strip-mining.

Is the nature of your visit business or personal?

Not sure, I'm just here for the murder.

Of course you're just kidding. The droners are all safe in Nevada, at Nellis AFB.

Well, what about PASSPORTS?

Best international practice these days seems to be "fake one from NZ or Australia or Ireland, then look all innocent when the governments of those countries complain about their citizens being placed at risk as a result".

The drone pilots are safe, but the physical property is managed somehow, and by whom?

The hard part is bringing the head onto the plane for the flight home.

God dammit.

I KNOW there's a "Son of a Preacher Man" song parody here, but I can't find it.

The only head that could ever stare vacantly at me with dead eyes and tangled ganglia/Was the Head of a Preacher Man.

You see where I'm having trouble with it, right?

I doubt the drones originate in Pakistan, though it would be extra funny for the Pakistani gummint if they were based on Pakistani soil.
