The Olympic Legacy

Now my school board is battling the provincial government over $17,000,000 dollars.

Every fucking year I have to haggle with the school board - swell folks all, but you gotta do what you gotta do - over our circumstances, and that haggling is only about money. I'm with the school board in this battle - I voted for the current chair and specifically for her to hassle the provincial government for resources - and there's no fucking way that the government can't cough up a few million for its own citizens after staging a six billion dollar party.

FUCK THE OLYMPICS.

You obviously have your priorities incorrect, have no pride in your country and are probably a very bad person. Have you stopped abusing puppies yet?

many years ago, Milwaukee's school superintendent, Howard Fuller, managed to get a referendum on the ballot for a district wide repair and construction program for MPS that was aimed at repairing the aging facilities and bringing them up to standards. MINIMUM standards, mind you. It came in at just under 100 mill, as I recall, and would require no additional taxes. Of course, it was soundly defeated.

The next year, Bud Selig came begging for public funding for the Brewers fancy pants convertible Losing Palace, which had previously been touted as not needed public participation. For which public money totaled 400 million dollars (increased by 20 million for repairs when the fancy pants roof failed in the first year) and for which a regressive sales tax in the region was instituted because, as Fuckwad Governr Tommy Thompson (you know him and loathed him as Secretery of HHS under GWB but let me tell you of how bad he was as Gov.) said, "stick it to 'em" meaning, of course, the blacks and the big-city liberals.

OH AND the stadium was not located in an urban location where it might have done a modicum of good through spin-off sales of food and drink and parking, but at the intersection of freeways, where Selig could make bonus money from parking and keep it all.

And then Selig completed the task of destroying the Brewers by siphoning as much cash away from them as he could.

Selig and Thompson. First against the wall when the revolution comes.

We'd only need it for an afternoon...

As long as we don't have cleanup responsibilities.
