Cognitive Dissonance

The Scarlet Letter [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

is one of the books every high-school student should have read before graduation. (Full list here.)

As if Miss Catholic Family Values upstairs is not enough, looka Rich Galen:
From the King James Bible, Romans 2:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay," saith the Lord.
What follows is an article about how Obama might be mean to torturers. The advice is to heed the Bible and not be so judgemental dude! Mellow out!

They don't really want people reading, do they?

Wasn't all of Catholicism about keeping the bible in Latin & explaining it to the sheep? How have these people come so far from gawd's tradition?

Bill Bennett's link includes "agnosticchart." Does he not believe in books?

The list, naturally, recommends the Bible, that scandalous tome of murder, adultery, incest and really lousy nights on the town (see: Empire, Roman).

The Declaration of Independence is a book?

To Lopez fans, anything longer than the instructions on a Two Minute Noodle packet, is a book

The quality of mercy is not strained, nor is it pasteurised, for either of these would detract from its Purity of Essence. And it is so not fluoridated.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone at that guy over there who's pulling someone's tongue out with a pair of red-hot tongs.
