Drone Strike Kills Qaeda Operative in Pakistan

WASHINGTON — A missile fired this week by a Central Intelligence Agency drone over Pakistan’s tribal regions killed a top Qaeda operations planner, according to American counterterrorism officials.

One American official said there were “strong indications” that the strike killed Saleh al-Somali

"Strong Indications" included a big flash, with accompanying explosion, debris and shrapnel clearly emanating from the impact point, dust, smoke and rubble. Musta gottim...

"Getting blown to small pieces by an airstrike" is a traditional Pashtun way of celebrating a wedding, much like firing rifles in the air, but more dramatic.

When did the NYT style-guide start leaving out the 'al' definite-article part of the AQ brand?
Will their science reports talk about gorithms, cohol and gebra? Not necessarily all in a single report.
