The Intellectual Side

For some reason I listened to Dennis Miller interview David Mamet. Dennis Miller is really stupid and embarrassing, but that's expected because he has never been funny. It takes real endurance to get through him pretending to be HEP like some declawed version of the already-lamed Cool Cat. On the other hand it's kinda fun to hear playwright call-in radio, which I have never heard before. One caller talks about going to see Oleanna - his first non-musical - and thinking you'd pronounce Mamet MaMAY. I think that kinda thing is charming.

Sounds like you might have issues. Considering how I feel about both guys, that interview would be doo-blay * painful for me to listen to.

*double..and, yes, I did hear someone pronounce it that way once.

Also, I prefer Little McGravitas' pronunciation. It's much more sophisticated. Why did you have to ruin it?

I also don't think I have ever pronounced the store name "Target" properly. It is always Tar-szhay.

You can't trick me into clicking through to Dennis Miller. At least suggest it's a Rick Astley video, or something.

P.S.

Uh oh. I took this as a pretty high compliment. Perhaps I have to re-think that.

Or at least keep it to myself...

Damn, Cool Cat is like Sugar Bear's lamer cousin.

Heh, he represents the intellectual version of the "Peter principle".

Seeing Cool Cat was a real trauma. I mean, I was a kid and all, but I knew who goddamned LARRY STORCH was and he didn't belong in my Looney Tunes. A precursor to Poochie.

'Target' is of course the diminutive version of targe, and VS's pronunciation is quite correct.

Mamet is the diminutive version of Auntie Mame.

Woo hoo for me I lasted 4:31 into that interview.
Mamet met a conservative he liked and that changed his mind? Miller would rather listen to someone be 'clumsily right' than someone who is "brilliantly wrong".
Jesus, intellectual giants.
But I did notice how Mamet don't want to talk about Glengarry Glenross. Some of of the new BFF wouldn't like that movie,eh?
