My American friends can figure out where they fall on the Canadian political map with this. Could you really fit in to this nation of imaginary girlfriends?
An election's coming up, disaster looms. I'll be voting NDP; the compass tells me I'm to the left of them socially and economically.
Fuck you Michael Ignatieff. And Steven Harper, but that's a given.

Well, I accidentally clicked on the wrong answer on my first choice - borked! - no way to back up, so I have "no idea" what I think. Stephen Harper was lucky to escape high school. (Maybe I do have an idea what I think.)
It's not easy being green.
The Greens really piss me off: they're a vote-siphon from the NDP and nothing more at this point. They'd be worthwhile if there was a better voting system in place, but they haven't got a sitting MP yet. If I was a conservative dirty trickster I'd be enabling the Greens.
My touchpad went a bit Squirrel on Meth on me but I'm closest to the Libs and my preference for PM is anyone except Harper.
Now, about the imaginary girlfriend?
...retried - came up green (will probably vote NDP anyway) - I think the greens need to come up with a way to counter their "anti-human" image.

Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, Baman! Canada sounds far more like the Untied Snakes that I thought. Perhaps I should revoke my request for space on an S_McG spare couch and just buy a ticket to Weta-land?

Well, we're sorry that you feel that way. Please keep us in mind if your antipodean venture becomes shaky.
(I hate the internet!)
All my current ventures are shaky.
Perhaps I just need a drink to steady teh nerves.

Apparently in Canada I'm not as socially liberal as I thought.
And taking the French version &/or giving a shit about Quebec seems to have put me in the BQ zone as well.

Regarding the Greens, not really. There are two sitting parties (one that will likely never form a majority government ever ever ever and the other that is opposed to the nation) that are to the left of the liberals, and they can sometimes put the squeeze on majority governments to get good things. It's true that the Greens share the same fate in Canada and the US as just being spoilers, but in the US they're the spoiler for Democrats while here they're spoilers for a party they are awfully close to in outlook.
That said, if the NDP/Greens could come to vote-sharing and riding-splitting agreements I'd have no objection at all to the Green party.
See also this Crooked Timber thread.
I don't see the Tea Party on this thingy. It's obviously bias.
There's better access to mental health facilities here.
If you want a tea party, try the Empress in Victoria (Subby will give you directions)
I know someone who worked in the kitchen there. I do not know that I'd indulge. There are other places still pretending to Britishness in the area.
Riding Splitting Agreements
Yeah. I'm familiar with those.
That's when you have an old van and a Harley and it's early February in North Dakota and your plan is to get lit up like a Macy's Christmas Tree and run like hell for Stateline Nevada.
And those other two doods? They tell you "mikey, take the scoot out, you KNOW you're better with black ice, but we'll take over at sunrise and split the ride with you. Hell, babe, we'll be there in 22 hours."
Except they spend ONE freakin hour on the scoot in minus six degrees under a blue sky with everything, ever GOD DAMN thing from the puddles on the road to their fingers frozen solid, and they come back whining saying "maybe we should just get a hotel room and warm up".
Sheesh. Lemme get on the stupid thing, sniff up some serious meds and let's just roll.
Dammit. Why couldn't I have been friends with Bob Seger...
Why couldn't I have been friends with Bob Seger...
...hmmm
He frequents many local events including West Bloomfield High School football games to watch his son who is in the nationally-ranked marching band.
..yes?
I think I fell off the chart.
I'm in Scarborough Centre and John Cannis took his position in federal Government roughly the same time Teh Clenis did.
It's a kinda weird riding - skews rightwards like teh 905. We're talking Rob Ford Country here, but it's an unassailable Liberal stronghold.

I could share stories, & I know few food workers. I'm surprised I've ever eaten in a restaurant again, period.
BE NICE TO WAITSTAFF.
The Empress was swell in 1968, 'though.
