Filler

Jonah:
I watched most of the Emmys last night. I thought it was probably the best-produced and -hosted one in years, but I can’t say I’ve watched them all. While I’m delighted by the best actor and supporting actor nods to Breaking Bad, I still think it was robbed of best drama series. Mad Men is good, but over-honored.
I just can't do it like he does it, or maybe I can. I haven't paid a lot of attention to arguments I make, but I'm pretty sure I leave myself some outs most times. In any case, I figure meetings aren't long enough even when valuable things are getting done, so I'm going to try to be a little bit more like Jonah, as much as I can manage, when I get a little more practice in. Gotta go, but I may peek in now and then if something important happens or if I feel the need.

I imagine that this post will receive a couple of interesting comments, unless readers don't bother.

Well I just looked in on my way past and thought that Subby made some good points, though I didn't read them all and didn't have time to think about what I did read.

SC and AK raise interesting points that I'll have to chew on before I provide a substantive response, but for now I'd say that the original post holds up pretty well in most areas, though of course it's subject to revision. More to say soon.

To be fair, we are all doltishly vapid for much of the time. Some of us choose to present ourselves as "wrong because of psychotic disconnection from reality" rather than "wrong because we are slack-jawed dolts".

Oh I don't know about the slack jawed doltishness. Honestly, I don't know about it, I thought it was a town in Saskatchewan. I will read more about it when I get some time between figuring out the fuck Twitter works. You can shout all you want but it doesn't write down anything. More to follow

I have some things to say about this topic, an important one I should add, one we all should dedicate more time and thought to, but I'm on a deadline so I'll just say this for now. It's one that liberals think they can use to drive a wedge between conservatives, but if we look at it carefully we should find that conservatives for the most part are in agreement about its most important aspects.

Thanks for the comments, which go some distance to clarifying some ideas which I could perhaps have better expressed. Nevertheless I think the original idea stands - with tweaks and caveats as pointed out! - inviolate.

Jonah thinks "inviolate" is the outermost color of the spectrum.

That works for me... or I thought I did. Maybe I should pay closer attention, or not. I'll get back it... at some point.

Did someone say something? Maybe not. I'll check later.

Perhaps you will be able to pull your thoughts together more effectively after you walk the dog.

Hopefully, in the interim a reader will send you an email with the information.

I just thought of something:

If I remember right, a few years back a number of left-leaning blogs had a right like a conservative day.

Hamish Mack said...

I think that I might recall that but I wasn't really paying attention. Had a meeting with the dog walker, I think. Can't be sure

Once again we can see that the conservative movement is a big tent, willing to accomodate expansive and broad-ranging views spanning those of Kathryn Jean Lopez, Rush Limbaugh, and myself.

over-honored

This is actually a funny turn of phrase- I have no doubt it was unintentional.

I don't like the politicization of the Emmy's, although I wish George Clooney had spoken favorably about some consevative causes.
