well, to be fair, not many of the Ramones say that any more....
But there may be something to it. Think of people like Billy Bragg or Ed Hamell. Being alone up on stage, they can pound through songs as fast as they want, without having to wait for the drummer to count on his toes....
Took my niece and five of her teenage friends to an april wine concert in Santa Rosa back in the early eighties. The number of felonies I committed that night is almost unmeasurable.
