If you let public employees vote, what do you think they are going to vote for? For more public spending, more government jobs, higher government wages. Can you vote yourself a pay raise? No, and neither can I. Bill Bureaucrat and Pam Paperpusher can, though, and they do. Bill and Pam have no problem at all with ever-swelling public budgets, with ever-expanding public services, with the creeping socialism that is slowly throttling our liberties out of existence.
It’s an idea whose time will soon come.

Let's not forget the elderly, anyone on disability, anyone on welfare, anyone who's taken a tax break for buying a new house or energy efficient appliance, those guys who expect the fire dept to actually put out fires, animals in shelters and endangered wild species and the entire state of Alaska.
If you think the government should do something you should not be allowed to vote.
Indeed, voters should not vote, since it would give them a vested interest in the functions of government.
Look, we all know where this is heading and frankly I'm relieved to finally see the "Derb for Dictator" camp getting the widespread support it has deserved for so long.

This is a great idea. Citizens should only be able to vote on things that don't affect them. We could set up independent "voting panels" and they can decide what things people can vote on. And then we can publish how individuals voted so if we figure out that if someone benefited from voting, we can retroactively take that vote away.
As my grandkids would say, "cool beans." This is the best idea that has ever appeared on The Corner and I think it is demonstrative of The Corner's general quality vis-a-vis thinking things through and having good ideas about cool things that are not at all stupid. You really "solved the puzzle."
