Adam Carolla Has Never Been Funny

Adam Carolla has never been funny.

The managing editor of Breitbart news:
Either Men Are Funnier Than Women, or Rolling Stone Is Sexist
by Alexander Marlow
What follows is a gotcha of leftistbrainsploding proportions...
Last week, Rolling Stone published their "50 Funniest People Now" list and featured only 12 women out of 52 comics.
I have a number of problems with the article, not limited to but including the fact that a) For a publication that considers itself edgy, the only surprise in the list is that they shoehorned 52 names into a "Top 50" list, b) They audaciously claim Tina Fey's 2008 Sarah Palin sketches were not "mean-spirited," and c) They leave world's most downloaded podcaster, comedian Adam Carolla, off the list entirely. I would bet big money that Carolla is ommitted purely because he doesn't resemble RS's politically correct world view. Still, according to Rolling Stone, the Podcast King and bestselling author is not as funny as Charles Barkley or Joan Rivers.
A) Don't pretend you give a shit about edginess.
B) The Sarah Palin battle is over. She won. She has your money.
C) Adam Carolla has never been funny. Charles Barkley and Joan Rivers are funnier than Adam Carolla.
D) "Ommitted" Mr. Managing Editor?
Yet, the most newsworthy item is the breakdown of 40 men to 12 women on the list.

In June of last year, Carolla was ripped unmercifully in countless media outlets for saying in an interview with the New York Post that "dudes are funnier than chicks." He clarified that he didn't mean that all "dudes" are funnier than all "chicks," but that a greater percentage of men are funny:
The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks

When it comes to comedy, of course there’s Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin — super-funny chicks. But if you’re playing the odds? No.

If Joy Behar or Sherri Shepherd was a dude, they’d be off TV.
But this was the headline of the Post article: "The man's man Macho laughman Adam Carolla says Tom Cruise is from outer space and women just aren’t funny." Of course, Carolla never said women "aren't funny," he said they're not as funny as men.

Predictably, the media attempted to brand him as a sexist.

Now let's return to the Rolling Stone article, where they list over three times as many men as women in their list of top comedians right now. The only reasonable conclusion to draw from it is that Rolling Stone considers men funnier, and yet, when Carolla said this, he was tarred and feathered.

So which is it, are men funnier than women or is Rolling Stone sexist?
Let's continue with the list theme.

~) Maybe the list IS sexist!
!) Maybe Rolling Stone IS sexist! Go go feminist hero!
@) Maybe you give zero shits either way.
#) Rolling Stone ≠ The Media.
=) One list does not mean that now and forever X is true, however much you think snow disproves global warming.
$) Captain Crunch is really good.
%) There might be reasons beyond comedy why a woman might not want to have co-workers like Adam Carolla.
^) Curse the liberal New York Post for distorting the words of Adam Carolla.
&) Adam Carolla should be used to being ripped unmercifully because he is not funny.
*) As of today Adam Carolla is off TV.

Hmm. There are a significant number of names in this post I'm going to have to look up on the wackypedia - starting with this podcaster "Adam Carolla". Frankly, I don't listen to podcasts - it takes between three and four times longer to listen to something than it does to read it. Information density has value over time.

Sherri who?

I don't know who most of those folks are either but I'm perfectly willing to believe Sub that Adam Carolla is not funny.

I like podcasts for when it's dark for sleep inducement. Since Adam Carolla is not funny I prolly wouldn't like his.

Harry Shearer's podcast is funny. Except for the songs.

The Professional Left podcast is good, and often funny. Plus, cursing. And Internet Kittehs!

But wait:

Adam Carolla steps on a rake. OW! He stumbles into an open sewer manhole. The legions of pet baby alligators flushed down toilets eat him.

See? Adam Carolla funny!

Adam Carolla is almost as funny as Dennis Miller.

Denis Miller is funnier than a sewer full of rabid alligators, marginally.
I am also unaware of Adam Corolla but as I luvs Toyota Corolla I will stick up for his brother. Adam Corolla is a saint in this house and if he says he is funny then he is!
WTF is it with Conservatives that they whine because they are dipshits, be proud of your identity people!

Also on Wikipedia.

An entry which, I suppose, could be plausibly argued to indicate significance or insignificance.

Adam Carolla is macho? Also, just because he's downloaded often doesn't mean he isn't small potatoes nowadays- he hasn't had a T.V. machine gig in a while now.

Also, brains combined with frog legs. I like some direction GM food is going.

I knew I recognized that brain with legs.

When I hit 'refresh' on the podcasts my standard re-up includes Shearer who is at least interesting if not funny (don't ever sing) and I appreciate his NOLA advocacy. I also get the BBC Friday night comedy cause I'm desperate for laffs and 'On the Media' because it seems like good radio.

The BBC Documentaries podcast is pretty great and the feed contains a whole lot of the back episodes.

Howdy. Still recovering from the devastating news that Rob Ford is still the mayor of LEAFS SUCK. Almost a week later.

Anywho, just wanted to note this:
Of course, Carolla never said women "aren't funny," he said they're not as funny as men.

Predictably, the media attempted to brand him as a sexist.

herp derp derp. Now I gots me a pile of HTML Mencken to catch up on.

Adam Corolla annoys me a) because he's not funny and b) 'cause he's got some really cool vintage Japanese cars that he bought by getting rich from not being funny on telebision.

I like vintage Japanese cars and it sucks that this douchebag gets to drive them and I don't.

OBS said...

Hmm, a link to the cars would've been helpful in explaining that better.

I sense a very strong Captain Crunch™ bias in this particular item. Have you ever tried New! Captain Crunch™ with strawberry flavoured power bits? Though, in this economy, no one could fault you for resorting to paid product placement.

Substance McGravitas said...

I can get paid for that?

El Manquécito said...

Having treated my insomnia with the World Service for 25 years I've heard most of those documentaries twice but I agree that they're good podcast material. It's great to have an archive of stuff on your phone to listen to. To coax the mind's hamsters out of the exercise wheels.

Substance McGravitas said...

Have you got As It Happens? There are some careful and interesting interviews on that show. And at least one horrific pun per episode.

strawberryshortpants said...

You might not be getting paid for mentioning Captain Crunch™ with strawberry flavoured power bits, but I sure am! Give me your bank account info and I'll withdraw $99.95 and send you an informational pamphlet that shows just how easy it can be!

So I hate hitler, but I can still give him credit for being one of the best organizers ever. That's how he became "hitler" and not the Unabomber.

You all look foolish denying Adam Carolla is funny. You may resent it, because ideas you (and i) disagree with may find purchase with an audience through his wit....but he is unbelievably funny. "Real" comedians are lucky to craft an hour of wit a year. He's doing that output every week.

"Unbelievably" is a good adjective to choose.
