A Book

The free laptop is slowly becoming unusable, so I have read A Book.

Patti Smith's Just Kids won a National Book Award somehow. It's interesting if you like the era and the people involved but as writing it's all affectation and name-dropping.
Since hashish permeated the atmosphere of these stories I had it in my mind to partake of it.
Not smoke it? Or:
We would sit together on their Napoleonic daybed, and he would read me passages from Rimbaud's Illuminations in the original French.
No kidding? The ORIGINAL French? This Stallone fellow is more creative than I thought.

Every page has something like that, her "tapping open a door slightly ajar" and making me think of padding essays to get to 1000 words.
I would never serve as the source of his inspiration, though in attempting to articulate the drama of my feelings I became more prolific and I believe a better writer.
O the irony.

Ouch. Thanks for the warning.

Maybe she can enter it in the Bulwer-Lytton.

Wv is menthele, which puts me in mind of a Nazi vivisectionist who smell fresh. Mymind is in a very dangerous place these days, it's true.

It's kind of like pretend poetry. I am trying to stop myself but I'm going to paraphrase and say it's a lot like a stupid person's idea of what a poetic person should be.

Her actual poems are somewhat different.

I thought I, too, would have to read books when the cable went off. Close call.

(And be careful w/ bookmarks.)

I'm currently considering replacing the winetop with another through Dell Auction.

(The flavor I'm interested in, Dell D630, now goes for around $200 versus around $400 last time.)

Hmm...I might spend around $400 that I don't have...but I might finally give the Linux option a shot. I kinda want something newish.

Also thinking about getting a MacMini to replace one of the home desktops, as a kind of backup/media-server option.

Wow, I guess she only excels in short form. Too bad, because I am a fan. I'm with zrm, thanks for the warning.

You want it? It's here beside me.

Or wait, who wants it MOST? I have changed my mind, IT IS EXCELLENT and available for a small fee.

The Mac Mini is a pretty good buy right now. I should have bought one of those instead of an AppleTV box.

Eh, mail it to Burt Prelutsky- the idea of Robert Mapplethorpe as a human being and not a cartoonish monster that old bat pivoted his entire political conversion on beacuse GAYS ARE ICKY TO HIM might finally kill him.

Saw her twice and that is an excellent description of the experience. NO THANKS.

Steve Simels linked to a pretty virulent takedown of Horses that makes several similar points about Patti.

Heh. An artist is a complicated person with several personality facets, some of which are not attractive or entirely successful. Must be a first, huh.

I don't care, the music sounds the same.
