O-Kay...

Josh Marshall:
One moment stands out clearly in my mind. Back in the early days of the Bush administration, Mickey Kaus had a typically contrarian post in which he suggested that with the rising tide of animosity on the left toward President Bush it was only a matter of time before we saw the outcropping of political violence on the left, to parallel what we'd seen from the right with the Clinton-hatred of the mid-1990s. (Perhaps someone can dig up the post? Late Update: Found.) It was a typically Kausian post, not only for its strained contrarianism but more for its complete failure of predictive value.

Here is documentary footage of my reaction:

One of the great cognative dissonace episodes of my life was reading about Mickey Kaus the neo-liberal and then reading one of his dirges about H.Clinton. I had to check to see if it was the same guy and indeed it was G.B.Kaus.
nealry made a mistsp there.

I'm not sure what he gets out of it either. Professional satisfaction? Money? Ann Coulter?

Fair enough on the cash, but why not write for The Enquirer? Why politics?

Goats.

The enguirer, and indeed, the weekly World News only pays in cash and alien babies. And Mickey's all about the goats.

Oh come now, they can have their little friendly scrums before they all shower together and head for the clubhouse for martinis.

Mickey is his deriest friend.
