LOL! I haven't heard, "What Ya See is What You Get" in eons! And then it turns out to be a cover!! The guys voice isn't low enough. Hmmpf.
And for a moment... "Sailing" went through my mind when I saw Kriss Kross and then I realized my error.
After listening to the real Dramatics and not the cover... I felt "deep voice" satisfaction, which then made me have to listen to this.

Don't Leave me this Way is the perfect lyrics and melody I dedicate to Roxanne when she told me after flirting with me and having " especial time" in a working place that "she was dating someone". She killed me I felt so sad and desperato. I couldn't handle it. Oh woman you broke my heart Roxanne.

One Friday night in the mid seventies I went out to a disco in Mill Valley. I met a cute blonde who's parents owned Lakeport jewlers. We danced to "Don't leave me this way" and she took me home. The next morning she was totally freaked out that she slept with a stranger (everybody else was all ho hum about it, but I thought it was kind of charming that she wasn't).
We ended up dating that summer - I took her to Tahoe one weekend and she gave me a gold lighting bolt pendant in honor of that song - "You're like thunder and lighting" that I still have.
In many ways, those days were the pinnacle of the American experience. Drugs were fun and sex didn't kill you. I've always kept a playlist of disco music because it represented a fairly remarkable period in history.

Used to go down with a girlfriend to this dive of a disco, downstairs at the start of gastown and REQUEST this. How I always got home safe and alone, as was required, I'll never know. Was a more innocent time, despite the full-on sexomatic dance tunes.
