I've never seen a less-aptly named movie (which I know was its point, kinda). Like "Welcome to the Dollhouse," I could only take one viewing of it. His movies are darkly funny, but mostly just painful for me to watch. And I actually mean this all as a compliment.
w/v is "kinko." I'm not sure if this is referring to a copy shop or...another kind of shop.
I adore Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who was exquisite here again. This film lets the actors really do their stuff, which I love, love, love in a director. Nice pick Substance.

Yes, it's all about the squirm. Which is hard to make happen if you don't make a film with believable people in it. I mean, did anyone feel bad when Megatron got humiliated? NO.

OK, that hyphen is in the wrong place and I don't care.

THAT is hilarious.
Yeah, I think Solondz and alexander Payne are a lot alike in their pursuit of The Squirm.
Anonymous, I think PSH is an amazing actor who throws himself headlong into all his roles and plays them with zero vanity.
Could be VS, though a lot of characters he plays have great vanitas, much affronted!
