Has the Shoe Been Tried?

Dan Gainor:
Now that [Dave Weigel]’s at Slate, he’s also up to his old tricks, comparing opponents of the Ground Zero Mosque to the czars who used to murder Jews by the thousands. Oh sure, he doesn’t say that, but he does.
I wonder non-wonderingly what Pamela Geller's stance on the Iraq war was and what Czarina Geller's policies would include.
The way the czars used to “view the Jews?” Well the czars devoted a lot of energy into evicting Jews, killing Jews and more – like Nazis without the scientific process. It’s the kind of behavior that appears in the movie “Fiddler on the Roof” where a whole town was ordered out of their homes.
It would be terrible to order people away from their property.

Following the links I got to the Powerline and a non-Miss Universe "betting" post by Hinderaker. It turns out Obama himself is blame if some people think he's a Muslim because he "has defined himself as literally exotic." According to Hinderaker, people are reacting to this and just searching for ways to pin down this exoticism.

Such "It's your own damn fault I detest you" arguments were never used by the czars and their supporters with regard to Jews.

I love that "incorrectly." The AP has evolved into an opinion machine, so it's rare and a little startling to see it stand up so boldly for a "fact." He's not a Muslim, dammit!

Spoken like someone who'd never encountered the Weekly World News.

Ahhh, a kinder, gentler Subtle McGravitas.

The Czars never used their F-16s to bomb entire apartment blocks full of innocent children.

How many cluster munitions did the Czars deploy?

Sure, they had that up-close murder thing down, but they sucked at trying to scale it up...
