Careers Ruined By Politics

TRAGEDY WRIT LARGISHLY!
[Clint] Howard, an actor since 1961 and the younger brother of filmmaker Ron Howard, said that while he is comfortable speaking publicly about his conservatism, his advice to Republicans looking to break into the industry is to keep their political opinions to themselves, even though Hollywood liberals seldom do.

About five years ago "I came out of the closet. In Hollywood. I certainly understand that's dangerous," he said.

"If the entertainment industry should turn on me, I'd say, 'well fine.' But for young conservatives, you may hear me speak out but let me tell you: Be careful," he said.

Howard was joined by Morgan Brittany, one of the stars of the 1980s nighttime soap opera Dallas. The pair have more than 100 years of acting experience between them (Brittany's first job was as a child in the late 1950s), and they've noted a leftward slide in the industry and an intolerance for political dissent over the decades.
Here I just wanna include a picture of Clint Howard because he looks awesome:

Why shouldn't he have work forever?

Three careers snuffed out in their infancy below:

UPDATE!

I have beaten Big Hollywood to the punch, although our perspectives are somewhat different as John Nolte is an idiot.

Clint's best roll, by far, was as Balok in The Corbomite Maneuver. I laughed, I cried, I said "What the fuck?"

Look up "The Friends of Abe" ont' Google. They are a lame arse group of Hollywood conservatives who sit around moaning about how they can't find work.
Their Facebook page has 160 or so members and ain't exactly jumping.

What? Actors can ALWAYS find work. Clearly these conservatives are being discriminated against if they can't.

Also 50 years ago there weren't all these young people on their front lawns either.

And the Japanese and seafood restaurants were better then.

O tempura! O morays!

I'd wager there's more time spent sitting in a trailer than acting.

Possibly sometimes when they've been hired to act.

He may be the only humanoid on the face of the earth whose appearance is improved by a face-mullet.

Usually he looks like the model for Karl of Sling Blade.

There's always gay porn. Where there are no small parts. Really.

Clint Eastwood played Balock? Alternate joke- from Balok to Bollocks! in 50 years.

what is it about wingnuts and face mullets?

They hide weak chins and dewlaps.

Perhaps the lower half of his face is morphing into Goatse.

Imdb says: Actor (202 titles)

It's tough out there for a shrimp.

Substance McGravitas said...

Yes, but if he was liberal he would have been in 464 more titles.

Nolte says that at production meetings, one dare not take the anti global warming fuckhead position in arguments. Is this how production meetings go, I assumed that one talked about the production or else it would be called Production and Global Warming discussion meeting?
I would imagine that with the volume of warm air these guys put out about the topic, some hard evidence will be forthcoming soon.
But NO! he says "there is no list". Oh so cunning. And THEY DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED VICTIMS

Well, in fairness, meetings tend to wander, veering badly between productive topics nobody wants to attach their career to and mindless drivel that, while pointless and stupid, is safe.

I worked in tech mfg. for decades, and everywhere I worked we had a morning "production meeting". 9am was popular, but many of the key players *AHEM* tended to arrive later. But when these meetings didn't disintegrate into shouting or punching over who's job would ship on time, they tended to slide off to discussions of matters not, well, directly applicable to the matters at hand.

I always brought my friend Debbie over to be ops manager whenever I changed jobs, because she would put stop to that horseshit and everybody (even me) was afraid of her...
