Democracy is bare chested, but somewhat wizzened and kinda wussy now - see, didn't used to be that way.
And Egypt is the skirt covering up the junk.
So you see, the POINT is that radical islam may make you FEEL better, but it's democracy that'll kick your enemy's asses, and without Egypt the whole middle east would be standing there with it's schlong hanging out.
Ugh. This Ramirez guy gets a couple of toons in (what used to be) my daily local paper every week. I actually admire his drawing style, and even the (sometimes) clever way he illustrates his ideas.
What bugs the shit out of me is that his 'ideas' are reflexive, knee-jerk, teabag horsecrap. He just takes the Republican talking points and draws them up. Obama with a teleprompter, Nancy Pelosi whatever, etc. etc.
I gotta say, though: In this case, I don't know what the fuck he's trying to say.
Therefore, I believe it to be a graphic representation of the disjointed, contradictory response of the right to recent events in Egypt.
On further reflection, though I think he may be pointing out the fact that real Democracy in Egypt may actually sweep Radical Islamists into power. ...and therefore, perhaps, Democracy is bad. And looks like a dog in a Ramones wig, sorta.
I shall assume that there is some connection between political forces in contemporary Egypt and one particular deity in a pantheon worshipped by Egyptians several thousand years ago; a connection which if we knew it, would shine a novel light on relationships among those forces, and make the cartoon funny.
The alternative is that the cartoonist knows nothing about Egypt as a way of representing it pictorally except one of their gods from ancient history... rather like drawing a picture of Zeus to depict contemporary Greece (and labelling it 'Greece' in case the readers can't work it out). That would be too sad and lazy to contemplate.
The jackal head represents evil religious stuff, because all religions are evil organizations that relentlessly drive people to horrible things, like reject Baby Jesus. The rest of the body is the other people of Egypt, manly young men with their young, narrow hips of democracy and broad shoulders of freedom--just the way the right like them, if you throw in a golf game and some slap-and-tickle in the caddies' shower room.
Finally, the little loincloth is made of 300-count Egyptian cotton, hence the "Egypt," and is available for a very reasonable priceif you have a Bed Bath and Beyond 20% off coupon.
I think that the cartoonist is obsessed with The Anubis Gates, and that this is one-panel fanfic- obviously, the riots are destabilizing, so the pagan priests can take advantage of the situation to usher in a new era in which the Egyptian pantheon can assume power. I imagine the follow-up cartoon will depict President Obama as William Ashbless.

One assumes that the Hieroglyphs mean something. "Jonah has been eating all the cheetos, people. He is a nogoodnik" or similar

It's quite possible that I'm stupid but it just looks like random words written on a hieroglyph to me.

"Egypt" being written on the hem of the skirt suggests the prevailing attitude at NRO is "eh, who cares. They're all gay anyway."
Also, why wasn't this the cartoon of the day?

His drawing style suggests too many stimulants.
And I'm w/ vacuumslayer. No there there.
