Moron The Blacklist

Andrew Klavan:
Can I prove conservatives are excluded from work in the movie business? Of course not—not without revealing the identities of the frightened people who tell me their horror stories. Even I, who will speak openly in general, won’t name the names of blacklisters because it would violate the trust of business interactions and close specific markets irretrievably.
Let's see, these people who have been blacklisted are on the blacklist so they're already gonna lose the work. And the trust of business interactions prevents Klavan from talking about these people who would never hire him anyway.

Case closed!

Let's see, I could click on the link, or I could go and listen to the Siouxsie-&-Banshees cover of "Dear Prudence".
Decision, decisions.

I will swear by my pseudonym that no one in the world of entertainment has ever, ever been told that their shit is no good, or they aren't being hired, merely because they're drooling reactionaries.

Because it's never happened. No one's ever been turned away on the basis of personal or loud public politics. (Rule-proving exception: Mel Gibson, of course. Poor sucker can't get a break.) If a Hollywoodian thinks they can steal a nickel from you or your concept, they don't care about your politics or anything else.

Note to reactionary artistes: Hiring decisions are often made on the basis of the hirer being able to tolerate your presence during long periods of inactivity/boredom & moments of intensive work. Not being a paranoid jerkwad nobody can stand may help you get work. Should be easy for you to pretend to be a humanoid, talented actor boy.

Poor Roger Simon. Who will speak for him?

Do any of these people ever mention the lefties whose lives were actually ruined by their names being given to McCarthy? Has one of them ever said "Well we started it and all but it's got to stop".
I don't remember that, only ceaseless whining about how their stuff gets rejected and judging by the standard of writing over at Bug-Eyed-Hollywood I think it's no mystery, actually.

Exactly. The blacklist is about working with assholes vs. not working with assholes.

Is that Eastwood guy still making movies? I hear he is conservative, so perhaps he was killed in the revolution.

Fortunately for AK and me, the University is an Equal Opportunity employer.

Ahh. Very likely true, but I think I'll continue to believe my lack of gainful employment is due to the prevailing economic conditions...

Eastwood's also an excellent example of Hollywood's age discrimination. Ask Burt!

Poor, poor Bruce Willis. He had to make Hudson Hawk just to pay the rent.

Who else could withstand such abject humiliation?

I liked Hudson Hawk. It's pure bullshit, but knowing bullshit.
