Libertarians Are Stupid

Zachary Roth at TPM establishes that Rand Paul is a mainstream libertarian. And in the middle of that:
Walter Block, a libertarian professor of economics at Loyola University, and a senior fellow with the libertarian Ludwig Von Mises Institute, went further. "I think anyone who doesn't believe that isn't a libertarian," he said, calling Paul's comment "a very mainstream libertarianism."

"I'm delighted that Rand Paul said that," an enthusiastic Block added. "I think it's magnificent. I didn't realize that he was that good."

"The spirit of non-discrimination," said Block "ends you right up in compulsory bisexuality."

Yes.

Compulsories haven't been part of the Olympics for years. I can't see them bringing them back now. Market forces and all that.

These morons have just watched a radical experiment in everything they espouse FAIL completely during the Bush-Cheney Administration.

But never mind all that, obviously we need more deregulation and tax cuts.

And turtles.

This was all a desperate attack by the liberal media on Dr. Paul anyway, because Obamacare is going to mandate everyone be a switch-hitter, so which side are you on?

Hey, the libertarians weren't getting NEAR enough abuse. Thank goodness Rand came along and provided the general public with a brief but thorough education in what it means when someone says they are a "libertarian".

Very few political and economic philosophies are self-evidently unworkable. How anyone who thinks even a little bit can espouse an internally consistent libertarian ideology is beyond me. They are the rightwing equivalent of anarchists....

More high quality libertarianism from Dr. Paul, who likes science (my emphasis):

I would support legislation, a Sanctity of Life Amendment, establishing the principle that life begins at conception. This legislation would define life at conception in law, as a scientific statement.

Because hey, what could be more OG Libertarian than having the government tell a woman what she can eat, smoke, and what medical procedures she will be allowed to receive, under threat of a murder charge.

See? This is what happens when libertarians get within shouting distance of elected office. They can't let their ideology dictate their positions, because everyone would hate them, so they have to become this sort of incoherent libertarian/bushie republican that solves nothing and satisfies no one...

I disagree with mikey.

I am thinking that Randie will be providing an EXTENSIVE education in what it means to be libertarian, right up through election day.

Dammit, it wouldn't be so bad if they just wanted to legalize pot, like the old days. But RP doesn't even want to do that.

Meh. Legal pot would suck...

I would support his position if it meant I could eat at restaurants that refuse to serve Libertarians. The last thing I need is those people ruining my lunch.

Of course, I understand that mikey is predisposed to argue with the undead.

They've been off the menu ever since that disastrous episode of Hell's Kitchen.

Market forces oblige me to agree.

Or 1/2 an hour after you've had one you're hungry again

More likely, after half an hour you're tired of haggling with the main course over its price.

That would be an interesting mash-up of "Tarzan of the Apes" and "Harrison Bergerson".

"Socially-Engineered Planet of the Apes".
WV is "sublog", in case I hadn't noticed.

I just looked at this thread again and discovered that it isn't, in fact, a 'series of toobs', but rather a 'series of boobs'.

I leave now, but I go in peace...
