It's Funny to Think

It's funny to think that a conservative would dedicate an enthusiastic and cheerful post to the Dead Kennedys. Well okay, it's not really about the band as much as about the song California Über Alles and the candidacy of Jerry Brown.
You better believe I bought that mp3 in about 5 seconds, by the way! Gonna wear that sucker out this summer…*
What's also funny is that the current governor of California is the son of an actual Nazi and has a thick accent because he is from Austria**, but there you go, the world is mysterious.

*Note also the kickback links through Amazon.
**Know WHO ELSE was born in Austria?

I thought Breitbart had the monopoly on irony-free culturally illiterate bloggers.

I was just thinking about the Dead Kennedys!

But it was Kill The Poor that came to mind.

First they came for the poors...but I wasn't a poor (yet).

Did you see Nick Gillespie's story on the Dead Kennedys a few months ago? Equally hilarious.

And if the Whitman team doesn’t make this baby the theme song of their general election campaign, all those fancy consultants of hers should find a new line of work.

Yeah, good luck with that one. Contact BMI.

This the Gillespie one?

Maybe this?

Poor Nick. It was a Golden Age when he was young.

It will not even have to him that you need nusicians' permission before using a track for profit... or if the thought has struck him, then he's decided that it's easier just to take it and pay the fines afterwards, for theft of musical IP is the Republican way.

I suspect that for anyone old enough that the DKs are not a total novelty, when we hear that track we think of Ronald Reagan as its target.

This "we" thinks it's about hating granola-eating hippie-dippies, Linda Ronstadt & The Eagles, to name but a few targets.

Interpretations will vary.

Nusicians are usually radicals until they hit 40.

Is he really just discovering California Uber Alles?

I assume he is still not familiar with We've Got a Bigger Problem Now.

Also unfamiliar with Shadow Over California.
