Missing the Point

Brent Bozell suggests that real life is different from what's on TV:
None of these TV critics would want to end up in the hospital in real life and answer "yes" to the question "Would you like your nurse to be whacked out on Oxycontin?" In real life, we'd want this woman to go to rehab, and then to marriage counseling. But anything approaching the right moral course would completely ruin all the "black comedy" fun Showtime is having.
Also Tom's owner should simply have called the exterminator to get rid of Jerry.

And in "page turny not Tv things"(RB 2009) quite often things happen which ARE DIFFERENT to real life. When can we free from professional liars who just...make...stuff...up.
Heh indeedy Mr Bozell

be free, of course

The article's worth having a peek at for BB's sincere use of the phrase "filthy degenerate."

"Would you like your representatives of the GOP to be whacked out on Oxycontin? In real life, we'd want this radio personality to go to rehab..."

Fixed.

I can't argue with the guy about that.

In real life, those who rate for Jerry are subjected to -20 banhammers on youtube.

He was also a loud and proud screecher in the "the Da Vinci Code isn't real!" choir, and doubted Stephen Colbert's faith in Baby Jeezus after the Colbert Christmas Special. I wonder how he feels about the photoshops of him as Dr Zaius? He can't deny those have verisimilitude.

It's like all he wants to see are the bunco squad episodes of dragnet in which they try to catch someone who wrote a bad cheque.

I am also imagining Brent Bozell screaming at Scooby and Shaggy to stick with the group.

OMG WTF

Barney Fife didn't have bullets in his gun.

Also: that "citizen's arrest" thing TOTALLY doesn't work.

I was always partial to nurses who were whacked out on Oxycontin (or anything else, for that matter).

For one thing, you could always get them to kick down some righteous scripts, and it was much easier to get in their knickers.

Where's the downside?

Mikey is right. Who is better to self medicate than health professionals. Is Bozell suggesting that it is better left to amateurs???

Remember the brave protesters of Lerans!!!

Whoa, bit of a flashback there.

I gather Bozell is not a Royal Trux fan:

"Oh junkie nurse, oh junkie nurse,
I could not love you more
Since I found you keep the key
To the safe on the second floor."

Having exhausted all other avenues of avoiding work, I perused the comments to Bozells spewl. I have learnt that GOD hates TeeVee. He seems to have stopped liking it in the 1960's.
This means that HE does not like almost the entire history of New Ziland TeeVee, which is disconcerting, to say the least, as the Wild South programmes were very cool and generally praising Nature which HE appears to be responsible for. Also Radio With Pictures. How could anydiety not like that?
The more one finds out about conservative religion, the more one is left with unanswered questions, such us: what can I do to avoid work now???

You can troll Klavan like Rusty Shackleford.

In a sense, Mr Bozell has a point. I mean, look what the American public have had to come to terms with in the last year or so:

-- Their highly-respected financiers, backbones of the community, turn out to be amoral kleptocrats who were looting money from the public at a rate differing from previous fraudsters by several orders of magnitude -- secure in the knowledge that because they were acting as part of a corporate structure, the only penalty they would suffer would be a slight delay in the arrival in their next $multimillion bonus;

-- One of their intelligence agencies was literally torturing people to death in the hope that this would increase their willingness to talk -- including literal crucifixion in one case -- all in total immunity from prosecution;

-- Their armed forces were no better, turning camps for housing suspects into torture houses, apart from the Air Force who have been showing their bravery by dropping bombs on civilian gatherings from high altitude on the off-chance that the resulting body fragments could be chalked up as dead terrorists.

It might be that turning the moral lapses of other people into black comedy is actually a bad thing, and with less black comedy there might be more angry mobs in the street.

All. One. Tombot.

Angry mobs in the street?

In AMERICA? In 2009?

Hah.

It's going to take a whole lot of sick and starving children, massive conscription, suspension of the constitution, martial law, televised summary executions, a lethal pandemic, the collapse of the electrical grid and the canceling of "American Idol" to get fat lazy complacent tribal selfish americans into the streets.

And let's face it - even the worst president in history knew to avoid crossing THAT threshold...

I've been trolling the whole of Pajamas Media. S,N! has been so boring lately. PJM offers non-stop Little Debbie Zebra Cakes of tasty crazy.

Except for Glavin they moderate their comments, though. Kinda sucks, but to their credit they've let all of mine through. Not like those bastards at Big Failywood, who are dead to me.

You are a hateful leftist!

Rusty Shackleford said...

Having a little fun here. Note that the subhead claims leftism doesn't exist. In the comments the author "humbly" informs me that he "kicks ass in print and in person." Good times.

Rusty Shackleford said...

Also, the racism in the comment thread to this post is breathtaking. They must believe that what they say can't be racist as long as they don't actually use the n-word.

Another Kiwi said...

Forget them and move on. I’m sick of their constant whinning.
Whins teh intertubes for me.

mikey said...

Man. I don't know how you guys can do it.

More accurately, I don't know WHY you guys would do it.

Just the insufferable trolls and the endless mindless insincere bickering back and forth drove me away from Sadly, a place I was genuinely fond of.

To volunteer to take part in a mind-numbingly stupid conversation with mind-numbingly stupid people over such compelling topics as "what shall we do about the terrible oppression of white christian men?" is beyond understanding.

It really places a firm underscore on the old adage about how short life is...

Rusty Shackleford said...

Taking care of a baby all day. Need something that engages brain a little but not too much.

Another Kiwi said...

I wonder if we could get some guidance on clean degeneracy? I would imagine that it like filthy degeneracy but without the food in inappropriate places. Or perhaps it is those pictures of naked ladies in bathtubs that a friend told me there are in parts of the intertubes about which, I know nothing.

Righteous Bubba said...

More accurately, I don't know WHY you guys would do it.

It's like a crossword puzzle. Unlike the fakey trolls at Sadly, No! you can use facts'n'stuff. Killing time and all.

herr doktor bimler said...

I can tell you at great length about degenerate perturbation theory, if that's any help.
Particularly the degenerate-perturbation approach to lattice gauge models.

This is the point where people at parties find an excuse to be somewhere else.

Another Kiwi said...

It is the lattice gauge models that I find the most frightening.

Righteous Bubba said...

Lettuces are kind of cute when they're angry. Don't let the man bring you down!

tigris said...

Perturbed degenerates peeping at naked people in bathtubs through a large-gauge lattice sounds like why the internet was invented.
