Cartoon Characters

Via LGM some awesomeness:
Sources close to the Gingrich campaign say preliminary "what-if" conversations are underway that could lead to a Gingrich-Perry ticket being announced prior to the Republican National Convention at the end of August.

Gingrich insiders hope forming a predetermined ticket with Perry will unite the evangelical, Tea Party and very conservative voters that make up the core of the GOP.

As discussions got underway, a spokesman for Texas Gov. Rick Perry released a statement saying, "Gov. Perry thinks Newt Gingrich is the strongest conservative to debate and defeat President Obama and truly overhaul Washington. The speculation is humbling but premature."

  1. I'm kinda fascinated with the idea that conservatives think Newtie will put some kind of big smackdown on Obama. I think they mistake smug nastiness for intellect. It's the strangest thing.

  2. It almost feels like donating to Newt's campaign would be a good ratfuck, because all he wants to do is cause trouble. It'll be ineffectual trouble though; Mitt's gonna take it and there is no way on Earth that Newt can win either a presidential election or charm enough delegates to make his fantasy come true, and my own belief is that Newt is hideous enough that his attacks on RMoney are not gonna keep Republicans from voting against Obama.

  3. Oh yeah...cuz they're motivated by hatred od Obama...not anyone kind of love for any of the candidates. Hate will get them to the polls.

    1. This would be a decent post if it made the least bit of sense.

  4. I like the original version better. Although central casting did a remarkable job.

  5. Math is hard but the increasing likelihood of an open convention has potential for increasingly wingy things happening. Hopes, I has them.

  6. May your optimisim yield a funny payoff. Thus far Mitt has more delegates than everyone else put together and there's a decent chance he'll get to the convention with overwhelming numbers that mean an instant win. If there's leverage Santorum will have it, and I think he's less objectionable than Newt to the Republican faithful.

  9. The platform would be like a coloring book:

HATE! WAR! COLOREDS! IMMIGRANTS! LIBERALS! SECULAR! MARXISTS! REPARATIONS!

It'd be like their speechwriter had Tourettes.

Hmmm. That might actually give them an advantage....
