Each time I hear that 40% of Americans pay no income taxes, I feel my gorge rising in a way I haven’t experienced since getting my acid reflux under control. As I see it, if you don’t pay in, you don’t have the same stake in things that 60% of us do. It strikes me as immoral that any American should be free of this financial obligation. If it were up to me, if you don’t pay income taxes, I wouldn’t even let you vote. Why on earth should they have a voice in how other people’s tax dollars are spent or who gets to spend them?
I'M THE CONSTITUTION
AND I AGREE WITH BURT!!!
AND I AGREE WITH BURT!!!
Image hiked from here and animated. I erased a smidgen of it for aesthetic purposes, but said aesthetics are now ruined by this guilty note. Information may want to be free, but a thing that is already free is feeling bad about trivia.
People with low incomes should not vote. Seems reasonable. Mind you, an "income tax = vote" rule might exclude some of those wealthier people with the good accountants and tax lawyers.
ReplyDeleteIt says "Sorry but Burt does not tweet" Oh, I'm very sorry for that too.
ReplyDeleteSeems reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThe constitution, in its majestic equality, forbids the fascists as well as the commies to steal the right to vote.
I wonder what threshold Burt has in mind. When we lived in Ozzytrailier, Kerry Packer, the richest bloke in the country, allegedly paid 10 cents in the dollar tax whilst I, telephone book assembler extraordinaire, paid 23 cents in the dollar. Should I have had 2 votes to Kazza's one?

ReplyDeleteBurt is clearly concerned about the meagre nature of the incomes that so many US citizens receive, and would like to see improvements in wages and the employment rate that would bring more people above the cut-off point. He is ripe for conversion to the progressive cause.
I think corporations that pay no taxes and get federal subsidies should be broken up and sold.
ReplyDeleteI also think that Burt has never had a job and paid FICA.
One of the recent ones didn't pay so well:
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started writing for them back in 2005, Townhall was paying me $35 for an article. But I was writing faster than they were posting, so they agreed to run two-a-week, and I agreed to lower the price to $20 each. And so it has remained.
Then they fired him. BOO HOO!
You can't fool me, that's Gary Ruppert.
ReplyDelete~
I haven't even filed in about 15 yrs.
ReplyDeleteBut my vote remains worthless.
I'm just with Burt,
ReplyDeleteYeah only with Burt,
and if you disagree,
I will make you hurt.
Apropos of nothing, I have created a transparent version of your pop-a-pope graphic so that those of us writing on non-white backgrounds may retain the element of surprise. I have captioned in in my journal with "Peek-a-boo! I rape you!"
ReplyDeleteIt is, according to the word verification, "nazing".
I like it, Simba.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simba! related post at my crappy lil blog, so I stole your scary jumpy pope.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simba. Folks who want to should feel free to grab what they can from here.
ReplyDeleteI suppose the stay-at-home mom is out of luck as far as voting rights go.
ReplyDeleteIs she doing anything productive like earning money? NO.
She's not supposed to be "Productive", she's supposed to be 'RE-Productive", so she gets a pass.
ReplyDeleteMust credit Simba B!
