Carry On, Carry On

Over at Boing Boing, a video:

Are you less of a person if you don't make it through the whole thing?

Yes.

I would have loved to have seen the police officer's face at least once. He had to have cracked even a teeny, tiny smile.

  2. I struggled at the 2 minute mark, but I made it all the way through thanks to the encouragement of my imaginary internet fiend, Substance McGravitas (IF that is his real name!).

Maybe that's why the video exists. It's pretty great, and I am proud to be Canadian, as manifested in drunkenness, tributes to Wayne's World, slavishness to classic rock, the eventual reappearance of docility in the arrestee, and just this once, the RCMP for sharing.

I did love the parting line.

"Physical violence is the least of my priorities."

  5. That was so much like nearly everybody I knew at one point in my life...

  6. He's a little too Tenor for the high-end stuff, but I did like the vocal interpretation of the guitar licks. His commitment to non-violence would be admirable, I hadn't just watched him murder that song.

  7. I think the fact that Drunk Freddie there did not get tased is evidence that the cops were amused by it.

  8. The RCMP is a little wary of tasing since they killed that Polish guy at the Vancouver airport. Maybe they wanted to do it, but it's unwise.

  9. Like that stops American cops.

    Be .... careful out here.

With no fear of tasing, I am totally drunkenly singing Rush songs at all the Canuck Cops I see.

"THERE IS UNREST IN THE FOREST
THERE IS TROUBLE WITH THE TREES..."

THEY CALL ME THE WORKING MAN"

  11. You know, the cops I've met kinda do like Rush...and Ontario is the Rush home base.

If you rent a Red Barchetta maybe you could get away with something.

    Who?

  14. Oh, and liquor in Ontario is a relatively restrictive thing; restaurants need to do a lot of advance ordering to be well-supplied. There are enough snobs of all sorts, though, to guarantee adequate supply and variety.

    Who?

    They're an Australian band.

So it's not going to work out as a jumping-off point for an HST-style week-long episode of debauchery and violence? It's all just poutine and hockey?

  16. Also, the bastards at EMI have pulled the video, apparently.
