  1. It is about time for an afternoon dance-a-thon.

  2. I have to listen to "I Can't Stand the Rain" now.

  3. If it is one of those "athons" I will have to add more.

  4. Awesome.

I secretly love, "Knock on Wood". Well, not so secret now...

Also, after listening to Curtis, I have a desire to don a rust-colored leather sports jacket.

  5. LOL! I haven't heard, "What Ya See is What You Get" in eons! And then it turns out to be a cover!! The guys voice isn't low enough. Hmmpf.

And for a moment... "Sailing" went through my mind when I saw Kriss Kross and then I realized my error.

  6. After listening to the real Dramatics and not the cover... I felt "deep voice" satisfaction, which then made me have to listen to this.

... I can make it rain... whenever I want it to!

    Ahhh.

  7. This danceathon is turning into a mini-Zardozathon.

  8. Oh shit on The Dramatics. Listening at work and then just grabbing the first thing I can find.

  9. "Somebody's on Your Case"

Huh, compare opening riff. Peebles' is '72, the JBs, '73.

  10. I have to admit I've always liked that Kris Kross song. I can't say the same of Minogue's.

  11. The thing about the Minogue I like is that it's relentless.

I forgive James Brown. He came up with all the other riffs anyway.

  12. A brief yet compelling tale from YouTube comments.

Don't Leave me this Way is the perfect lyrics and melody I dedicate to Roxanne when she told me after flirting with me and having " especial time" in a working place that "she was dating someone". She killed me I felt so sad and desperato. I couldn't handle it. Oh woman you broke my heart Roxanne.

  13. I never liked that one. Black Box were more aggressive.

What I meant there and in the next comment was that C+C Music Factory SUUUUUUUUUCKED.

  15. "Nasty Girl"

I love that one, and go Canada! Vanity's an evangelical now.

  16. There was a great pre-conversion interview with Vanity in a local magazine in which she described - at great length - a series of projects that were tailor-made for people on speed.

  17. Wasn't C+C Music Factory the one that used Martha Washington for the vocals, but had someone else lip-syncing in the video?

  18. LOL! Not Washinton! WASH! Nice image I've got in my head now...

  19. Yes. Black Box and Technotronic pulled the same scam at the same time.

  20. I shouldn't comment after taking speed.

Well, I am crestfallen! I saw this buncha songs and assumed they were just for moi...cuz...*sigh, swoon*

w/v is sturaphy. St. Uraphy was an obscure saint, the saint of lost of buttons and rim jobs.

    RIGHT?

I have or have had several of these songs in my liberry.

    Can't Stand the Rain
    Knock on Wood
    Jump
    Nasty Girl

    Hell yes.

  23. I shouldn't comment after taking speed.

I cannot express how vehemently I disagree with this statement.

  24. Oh, and I am downloading the first song straightaway. Woweewowowowow.

  25. One Friday night in the mid seventies I went out to a disco in Mill Valley. I met a cute blonde who's parents owned Lakeport jewlers. We danced to "Don't leave me this way" and she took me home. The next morning she was totally freaked out that she slept with a stranger (everybody else was all ho hum about it, but I thought it was kind of charming that she wasn't).

We ended up dating that summer - I took her to Tahoe one weekend and she gave me a gold lighting bolt pendant in honor of that song - "You're like thunder and lighting" that I still have.

In many ways, those days were the pinnacle of the American experience. Drugs were fun and sex didn't kill you. I've always kept a playlist of disco music because it represented a fairly remarkable period in history.

  26. Thanks Sub. Ami Stewart did it for me for a short while, too.

  29. How bout this?

  30. And this?

    http://youtu.be/cVpzSaNpErY

Used to go down with a girlfriend to this dive of a disco, downstairs at the start of gastown and REQUEST this. How I always got home safe and alone, as was required, I'll never know. Was a more innocent time, despite the full-on sexomatic dance tunes.

  31. Got both of those.

A friend of mine was convinced that the lyrics to "Le Freak" contained "it's fun to be had by everyone" which I guess is not TOO much of a misreading.

  32. And on the album with "Sexual Healing" Marvin says at the end:

Please don't procrastinate, or I'll have to masturbate. (tee hee)

  33. I love Thelma..and that song..thanks!
