That's very interesting. It looks like the mind pictures I get from magic realism books. And I notice that Lance Armstrong is not in the picture so it may be a drug free race.
It looks to me like they were contemporaries, although at the time of that painting, Rivera was more focused on mural work both in Mexico and the US (like the one fish links).
