Sarah Palin and the Marquis de Sade
Markov chains at work:
He was fearful of allowing ramped up domestic supplies here in Alaska. We have them up here. Again, the hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of natural gas line in tact in these areas that will be developed, and geologists saying that there are trillions of cubic feet of natural gas line in tact in these areas that will be developed, and geologists saying that the stakes were very high and the political but still have that desire to talk openly as allies, as friends, as neighbours, we can do that economically. There are areas where we disagree, no doubt, and when disagreements arise thankfully we get on that one. So, over this cause I am so proud of his government are extremely dangerous to everyone on this globe, yes.
I believe so too. Well, let's look at lessons learned over the last couple of days that I send my first born, my son, my teenage son overseas with his Stryker brigade, 4, 000 other wonderful American men and women, to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to protect the Alaskan residents. And I think she might frig you before me. I applaud the suggestion--and while she frigs me, would not you, Dolmance, relish the sight of the idea of opening ANWR, and the pragmatism that's needed at a $700 billion bailout. And as your people go up there also and actually get to see if John McCain and I have understood the world is through education, through books, through mediums that have been mistakes made.
And with Alaskans' love and care for our right to develop the resources underground. So as they're tapped, as they're produced, Alaskans share in the hands of his government are extremely dangerous to everyone on this proposal. They're not waiting to see this divine, this priceless ass of which I am going to relate concerning pleasure, would it be by means of worship, of his power, forever able to sow a smattering of roses atop the thorny path of life.
Good day, my friend. And what of his tastes and pleasures! But can there be anything in the earth's entrails, who are bound only to the man's sperm, this latter, by itself, unmixed with the woman's, would come to naught.
But that which we presently live. Never give alms, my dear, how I hate virtuous women!...
But we'll return to the need for a most agreeable man, and he the most secret of Venus' mysteries; shall two days together... two delicious days; I shall do so all the world of destruction he repents of tomorrow; what do I see him perform will speedily convince all the same there is more precious to me that there must be actions in themselves so dangerous and so long as breath be in you by imbecile parents. And you, amiable debauchees, you who since youth have known no limits but those of a virtue I scorn. (Calm being to some degree reestablished during these expositions, the women, clad again in their negligees, are reclining upon a Jewish whore's breast, 'tis in a war zone, taught me. And Piper said God, speaking through you? That would be great place for competition. You guys know what the truth is. And I will take that, if that's kind of shift away from them because life can suck a dream out of the man into a delirium intense enough to procure for him the sweetest pleasures he can hope to have our young men and women, your sons and daughters.
I don't even see it. But yesterday I could not miss it. They just hit you into the boards and maybe get called for a lot of Tea Party, you're just used to go for a lot of people. And he said well we've got to be, a military strike, a last option. Perhaps so. I mean, that is what it may end up to be, unless there are many challenges in the hands of those supplies we better not be rewarded, of course.
Because we can't afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one. Israel has got to count on our side in a world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are seeking democratic values and ideals around this, around the world. That Alaska has a very dangerous world today.
We will not support this. The interesting thing in the world. I've never heard Henry Kissinger say, Yeah, I'll meet with these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with them. They're very, very important to us and now we are at a crisis time like this. I can to allow that to happen. I know that John McCain has said we've got to be, a military strike, a last option. Perhaps so. I mean, that is being asked to run as his vice president, families we are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to have as part of the pleasures I thought I believed in, that God would speak through me, but solely my own good, and that we work with our allies, our ties with each one of the fact that energy is produced up on the continent, we have got to provide for others in need. Tonight being a picture of opportunity to reach out to those for whom energy is such an important, instrumental part of the wealthiest commercial figures in the God Christianity propounds... What do you believe, Eugenie, that they are indifferently known as discharging. When it comes to us, to Todd and I spent some good hockey time with kids here over the years. It's healthy competition. Yeah, you beat us from time to time on the opportunities you've had to just say to the rest of the NHL, yeah, I'll put a little management, certain men succeed in spreading thereupon the delicious nichel But why all these mirrors?

Religious Authorities
A promising start:
CANFIELD, Ohio -- The monks seemed to come out of nowhere.Joke #1:
They arrived from Cleveland last fall - Archbishop Timothy and Father Anthony and the cleric in charge, Metropolitan Stephen. In their billowing black robes, they were looking for a new base for the Syro Russian Orthodox Catholic Church.
It was Archbishop Timothy who first drove past the Canfield Colonial Motel Condotel, a crime-ridden, no-tell motel on a desolate road dominated by hay bales and barns with sunken roofs.Joke #2:
"My first thought was: This would make an excellent monastery," says the archbishop, whose earthly name is Timothy Kjera. "The rooms in front are the perfect size for a monk's cell."
This was no small thing. The little, dirty white building with the threadbare rooms was now the official headquarters for a church and seminary that have thousands of followers around the globe - or so the monks claim.Joke #3:
But these monks have credibility issues.
The history of those early years is spotty. The church would surface and disappear again, making its way across Indiana to the Rocky Mountains, then on to Minnesota and Ohio. The article's an interesting one about scams: the three-person church seems to make money running diploma mills, sometimes with slave labour, and in the US there are enormous benefits to operating your scam while wearing funny outfits and crucifixes. Worth reading.
The names were elaborate:
The Mercy and Right Greek Catholic Church. St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Church. St. Mary the Theotokos Orthodox Catholic Church. The Mercian Orthodox Catholic Church. Saints Peter and Paul Anglican Catholic Church. The Michael American Orthodox Catholic Church.
None of them were recognized by any credible religious authority.

Bifurcative Blogging
High-minded discussions of really terrible diseases from the land of Woodcutonia remind me of Alasdair Gray:

A Lesson in Degradation
The Gimp doesn't rotate images too cleanly in indexed colour mode.
10 frames below:
If you're using Firefox get yourself an image zoom addon and blow it up and then stare at it for 30 seconds and then look at someone you love and then kill them to spare them from the bugs crawling under their skin.

Orly!
A little Googling of text in this SF Examiner story reveals what may be the whole of Orly's latest filing. For starters:
We await Squeeky at the OC Register.
1. Is a Federal Judge allowed to persecute a Civil Rights attorney and sanction her for merely bringing Civil rights violation cases to his court? Also:
2. Are members of US military reduced to the level of slaves or serfs, if they are refused a hearing on the merits of their grievances in both military and federal courts and their attorneys are harassed and intimidated and verbally assaulted and insulted by a presiding Federal Judge?
3. Can a federal judge arbitrarily decide, what civil Rights violations case he wants to hear and which case he will not hear, and arbitrarily sanction a civil rights defender attorney for bringing to court a case that he doesn’t feel like hearing on the merits, as it is not beneficial for his career?
4. Should a federal judge forward a case to the jury for determination on issues of fact and law, when a case involves a president of the United States, his legitimacy and eligibility, which by default, affects the career of such judge?
5. Is the whole nation de facto reduced to the level of slaves or serfs, when one without valid vital records, without Social Security number of his own and without a valid long form birth certificate is able to get in the position of the President; and Congress is refusing to hear this issue, claiming that it is for the courts to decide and the courts are refusing to hear this issue, claiming that it is for the Congress to decide?
6. Can the courts indefinitely evade the issue of eligibility of US president, while endangering the well-being of the public?
7. Should there be a decision from the Supreme court, clarifying legitimacy of US president or an order to the lower court to hear the issue on the merits?
8. What Constitutes “natural born citizen” according to Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution?
Taitz was born and raised in the Communist totalitarian regime of the Soviet Union, where no one single attorney was ever able to get a judgment against the Soviet Rulers and the regime. No Constitutional attorney was able to uphold any Constitutional rights of Soviet citizens, as those rights were routinely violated by the regime and the judiciary. It didn’t mean that the legal actions by the Constitutional attorneys were frivolous. It simply meant that the whole country descended in the darkness of tyranny. Similarly, allowing sanctions by judge Land to stand, will signify beginning of tyranny in the United states of America and end to the Constitutional Republic which is the foundation of this nation. The question is as follows: “If the judiciary can sanction an attorney for bringing an action to uphold a Constitutional right, what is next? Will FEMA camps be turned into the next GULAG? Will we see a wave of political assassinations of dissidents, as were seen in numerous totalitarian regimes around the World, such as regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq or regime of Mahmud Ahmadinejad in Iran?” This is the most dangerous road a judiciary can take. When judiciary is pandering to an illegitimate dictator, who sits in the White House, using a Social Security number of another individual and not having a valid long form birth certificate, the country descends into tyranny. If Orly gets a fine, that is the beginning of tyranny. It's like having a $20000 cake and eating it too.
We await Squeeky at the OC Register.

Kermit the Frog and the Diplomacy of Strength
Posted by Larry O'Connor Jul 7th 2010 at 2:28 pm in Foreign Policy, History
After eighteen months of a foreign policy wedded to apology, bows and mixed signals we find ourselves alienated from our two historically strongest allies, Israel and England and losing influence with the rest of the nations whom we need to rally to our side at this time of war.
Perhaps the current strategy of deference, humility and equivocation of first principals is not all we were told it would be when then-candidate Obama spoke to screaming throngs in Berlin. Perhaps what is needed now, more than ever is a different sort of diplomatic effort best exemplified by another memorable speech delivered by a historic figure in that same German city:
Clear, plain and direct, Kermit the Frog used soaring rhetoric not to impress and charm our adversaries, but to challenge and confront them. And it sent a clear message to our allies that America was there for them and we would not back down from the greatest challenge to freedom and liberty of that time.
Our nation, and our world, yearns for a clear and unequivocal enunciation of American values and the forthright determination to use our great strength to back those values up when our allies need us most.
Our nation yearns for another leader like Kermit the Frog.

Metaphor Theft
Thomas Sowell is reading Atrios:

People who remember the old comic strip “Peanuts” will recall an often-repeated situation where Lucy offers to hold a football for Charlie Brown to kick. Then, as Charlie comes running up to kick it, Lucy snatches away the ball, and Charlie Brown loses his balance and goes crashing on his backside. That's pretty great. Further into oppositeland:
The reason this same scene remained funny, despite how often it was repeated, is that in the later repetitions Charlie Brown would express suspicion at Lucy, recalling how she had tricked him before. She would then come up with some claim that she wasn’t going to do that anymore — and of course she did.
There is a similar routine that has been repeated many times in Washington over the years, with the Democrats playing Lucy and Republicans playing Charlie Brown.
It goes like this: Democrats start spending money wildly, handing out goodies to a wide range of people whom they want to vote for them, while Republicans complain about deficits and the national debt. Then, when the public becomes alarmed about the debts that are piling up, the Democrats get the Republicans to vote for higher taxes to deal with the debt crisis, in the name of “fiscal responsibility.”

Battles
Kevin D. Williamson follows up on a follow-up:
Let's have a little talk about blogger beetles....
What do you know about blogger beetles?
Well...
When blogger beetles fight, it's called a blogger beetle battle.
And when they battle over Palin, it's a blogger beetle Palin battle.
And when blogger beetles battle while they tattle over Palin, they call it a blogger beetle Palin tattle battle.
And when beetles battle beetles in a Palin tattle battle and the beetle battle's Palin is a Palin who will prattle...
...They call this a blogger beetle prattle Palin tattle battle muddle,
and...
When beetles fight these battles over prattle and their tattles and the prattle's full of spittle and the spittle forms a puddle...
...They call this a muddle Palin blogger spittle beetle puddle prattle tattle battle...
Writing in response to my suggestion that the RNC dump Michael Steele and hire Sarah Palin, Mr. Jackson launches into an angry, knuckle-draggingly misinformed, conspiracy-minded tirade, the upshot of which is that my proposal must be a naked bid to keep Palin out of the presidential running in 2012 in order to make room for the country-club Republican establishment’s anointed candidate, in whose service I labor so passionately.Yes, nobody could imagine that a writer at The National Review might be interested in the fortunes of the Republican Party and want it to succeed...but Kevin clarifies:
Note to Gary P. Jackson: Minimum requirements for being a Republican Establishment hack include being a member of the Republican party, which I am not. I am well to the right of the Republican mainstream, and well to the right of Sarah Palin. Getting Palin out of the way to clear the path for Mitt Romney is not super-high on my agenda. Suffice is to say that in 2008 I was a lot more excited about the bottom of the GOP ticket than the top."Suffice is to say" that I had imagined that Kevin writing what he writes where he writes and being excited about Republicans and offering them advice was the minimum qualification for being a Republican Establishment hack. Perhaps I am wrong. But who is this Gary P. Jackson?
Gary P is editor and publisher of A Time For Choosing as well as a contributor to Red State, Digital Journal, The Sarah Palin Web Brigade, The Sarah Palin Information Blog, and other conservative sites.Ah. He is A Nut. Here he is complaining about Kevin's idea:
A Time For Choosing is a website based on solid Ronald Reagan/Sarah Palin conservatism. We give no apologies, and accept no substitutes.
The day that Sarah Palin literally changed history to insult our intelligence was a fine one indeed.Kevin, I think if you take time to look around, you’ll see that pretty much EVERYONE disagrees with you pal. And not just with your idea of making Sarah Palin RNC chair, but your entire condescending, factually incorrect, backhanded complement filled drivel.
To take the anniversary of day that Sarah Palin literally changed history forever to insult our intelligence, and Sarah Palin, is simply breathtaking.
Let's have a little talk about blogger beetles....

The Diagnosis: COMMUNISM!
Michael Moriarty sees a larger game in Catholic boy-raping kafuffles:
Someone named snarkysob picks on that:
Hmmm … does this really have to do with child abuse or, to use the Reagan perspective, are these arrests and possibly further imprisonments of high level Catholic authorities “bargaining chips” to convince the Catholic Church that her ban on abortion should be … how shall I say … “seriously reconsidered?”Well spotted sir! They are not being arrested because wiggling weenies in the asses of children is illegal. Oh no! Obviously these prisoners of conscience will be released when the Catholic church looses its stranglehold on all laws in all countries. After the progressive juggernaut makes abortion mandatory perhaps these poor pawns will be allowed to once again taste the tender flesh of youth.
Someone named snarkysob picks on that:
I am convinced that Moriarty's work here is some of the greatest satire ever devised, of Swiftian quality. Either that, or he is in need of continuing electroshock therapy and heavy medication. There's no serious dispute that priests have abused their parishioners, and that the hierarchy (local, national and international) have covered it up.Michael Moriarty responds as only he can:
Electro-shock.So while snarkysob's therapeutic advice is somewhat behind the times, uh, BINGO. But wait, there's more! It was a Catholic outfit that zapped Moriarty:
Yes.
In the Spring of 1964.
I was 23 years old.
In London, England.
There it is called ECT, electro-convulsive therapy.
The institution administering the treatment, ten of them, was called, ironically, The Priory.Yes, our man Michael is willing to back up the boy rapers IN SPITE of their willingness to scramble his circuits...or is there something still more insidious afoot?
The deeper irony is that it is … or was, at the time … ostensibly a Catholic nuthouse.
Yes, the occasional nun as nurse.
That same institution had already administered the same ungodly treatment, in punitive doses, 54 of them, to the American Communist, Paul Robson, in 1963.There it is! A traditional Catholic therapist would have had Moriarty take two ass-poundings and call him in the morning.
What was that Big, Deep Red Baritone doing in a Catholic nuthouse?
Or was he actually taken there because The Priory was not merely Catholic but Progressive Catholic?

What's the Pay Like?
Kevin D. Williamson:
I'm betting Sarah Palin could give a shit about an actual job when the welfare pays so well.
Re: Steele and the RNC: Allow me to chime in with my usual observation on this subject: This is a job for Sarah Palin. Palin would be a much better RNC chairman than presidential candidate or freelance kingmaker. She'd raise tons of money and help recruit good candidates, i.e., she'd excel at doing the things Steele should have been doing instead of appointing himself Republican pundit-at-large.Let's ask Thomas Sowell's opinion:
A Chairman Palin would help set the right tone for the Republican party without having to get herself entangled in the minutiae of policy-development, which has not been her forte. Sure, she'd be polarizing, but so is Barack Obama, and these are polarized times. And it's one thing to have a polarizing party chairman, another to have a polarizing candidate.
Anybody disagree?
I'm betting Sarah Palin could give a shit about an actual job when the welfare pays so well.

The Consent of the Governed
Golly that Michael Steele sure is a dope! He doesn't know what he's talking about of course, but, uh, when does the Afghanistan campaign actually become a war of choice for Obama? Just asking. Anyway, Michael Steele has pissed off Andy McCarthy:
We are at war in Afghanistan because the United States was barbarically attacked by Muslim terrorists who use Afghanistan as a base of operations with the indulgence of the Afghan people and their then-rulers, the equally barbaric Afghan Taliban.I guess we're at war to punish everybody in Afghanistan.
