Captain America: Already Gay Enough, Thanks

Another amusing freakout:
Tea Party Jab to Be Zapped From Captain America Comic, Writer Says
By Joshua Rhett Miller
- FOXNews.com

A "tea bag" reference in a recent Captain America comic book that has angered the Tea Party movement will be removed by Marvel Comics in future editions, the story's writer told FoxNews.com.
The offending image:

Hmm. Remember this?

And of course, "removed [...] in future editions" means THIS ONE'S THE VALUABLE COMIC OMG GET TO THE STORE NOW! Well played, Marvel.

This calls for a reprise of Captain America's greatest single page:

Accurate comic book representations of real teabagger statements are mean-spirited and offensive.

This one's for those who ridiculed the pope's self-flagellation (a sign of his great spiritual maturity, by the way) and thus showed themselves unprepared to live in a pluralist, open society.

It was very condescending of you to post that teabagger pic, S_McG.

Now you must freebase yourself before dog as atonement.

A tone meant?

No, hell, I GET the freebase thing, but I'm just not sure what a tone meant....

I don't remember if I left this tid-bit the last time you ran that C.A. page, but way back in the -- No, entirely wrong! -- Look here. Sometime around 1973(?) C.A. fought the "Committee to Regain America's Principles."

I wrote a letter saying "I get it," & the editor was kind enough to print a little note (though not he letter) saying "Yes, right you are, tee hee."

Now, they have to take it out & be all sorry. (Except for the sales.)

On the letters page? If you want it I'll send it to you.

You still have your comic books? Fuck!! You bastard.

If you have the time to look, it would be in the third "ish" after the first appearance of the CRAP. A short acknowledgement on the letters page, around real-time Aug., Sept. or October 1973 (which would make it the Nov. or Dec. issue, if I remember the lag time) & I probably used the pseud "Dr. Jazs." Or "Dr. Jazz." (Can't remember when I changed the spelling.)

It was a quick note, probably at the end of the letters.

Much appreciated, & I'm at your disposal for any legal (& most illegal) activities or requests.

We never receive offers like that at Riddled, or I would have a new pair of lungs by now.

You'll note that McGraviton offered me something first. If I see anything you have down there (plenty wetas here, thx) I'll let you know. You certainly don't want my lungs, or any I could get a hold of.

That said, the purpose of this visit is to share the WashTimes column on the topic. Esp. the comments.

So can we call you Dr. Jazs?

I'd be delighted to help you with a new pair of lungs, but the goddam things don't come out in one piece. I end up with a couple handfulls of, well, stuff and I don't think you could get them installed to factory specs.

I'll let you know if I figure it out, though

Er I'm not sure that Smut Clyde understands thew "Riddled" healthcare plan which, er, enables his lungs to be sold on ebay to defray expenses and such. A small but important difference.
The first frame of the CA page is one of my faves for pop kultur.

You can have the left lung ("Emfy") or the right lung ("Sema") BUT NOT BOTH.
